Gilmore Girls

What is especial in this series, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino in 2000, is the relationship between the single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). Both are intelligent, fresh, creative, amusing, positive, modern, independent and enterprising and their relationship often seems more a friendship than a typical relationship between mum and daughter, which is fantastic.

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore live in the imaginary town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, with the rest of quirky characters who appear in the series. From Loreai’s parents to Rory’s friends, we can observe and live in Stars Hollow, topics such as Rory’s Education and boyfriends, or Loreai’s romantic life or her differences with her parents, who belong to a wealthy upper class.

Not only family and friendship are treated in this TV series but Gilmore Girls also explores in some episodes politics or generational divides, giving sometimes a social criticism. However, the main message that this TV production undoubtedly transmits is loaded with feminism and the idea of young or mature woman with a sweet but strong chatacter, fighter and made herself.

Gilmore Girls is a series suitable for the general public. In Spain is showed on TV2 from Monday to Friday at 18.15, althoug the seventh and the last season was shooted in 2007. If you decide watching it this afternoon you will enjoy it.
