Interviewing Monica

Last week, the students of the course “English for the Media” had the pleasure to have two guests. Monica George and Paula Jones visiting us, we had to talk to them about their experiences and also about some general items. We were divided into two groups and in our group we were speaking with Monica.

Monica George is a physiotherapist who comes from the UK. She has been working in the USA and in Japan, and nowadays, she is in Alicante learning Spanish and teaching private English lessons.

Firstly, we were talking about the UK education and she said that now, in her country, the education is very poor and the government apparently has adopted a new measure which consists of paying children to learn.

After that, we were chatting about some differences between the English Language. She told us that the American English is very different from the British English. And also we talked about the big influence of America.

To finish with, we chatted about some personal likes. She said that she prefers Alicante’s weather but she only realizes about that when she comes back to Britain. Moreover, she said that she has changed, above all, her sleeping habits. The thing that she misses the most from the UK is “fish and chips”.

I would like to say that we had great fun to have this nice guest and also that we had the opportunity to have a real conversation with a native speaker.

Thank you Monica!
