Francis Ford Coppola in Alicante


Shooting his last project called "Tetro", an autobiographical film, the famous American film director has been working in the Ciudad de la Luz studios set in Alicante.

Born in Detroit, USA (1939), he grew up in a creative, supportive Italian-American family. His father, a composer and musician. His mother, an actress.

Coppola's film "The Godfather" (1972) became one of the highest-grossing movies in history and brought him six Academy Awards.

"Apocalypse Now" (1979), a Vietnam War film inspired by Joseph Conrad's novel Heart of Darkness, was one of his most ambitious films.

He has been described as "one of America's most erratic, energetic and controversial filmmakers".
