Dear Editor,
Every year there are more Spanish students who decide to spend a summer in an Anglo- Saxon country to practice their English -absolutely that’s a good sign- moreover, the state offers numerous aids that make it easier to go abroad for cheaper.
However, most of the people agree with the fact that they haven’t improved their English since where they were staying there were other Spanish students, so the result of the experience is zero efficiency.
Spanish students have a strong will to learn English, they go to English schools, they are interested about working abroad, they really spend many years of their education studying English and it has just become a `resist subject´, but why are not they encouraged on high school to spend a whole year abroad. From my experience, it's the best way to learn the language and the culture; moreover, it’s a great way of gaining independence and certain values.
Parents and teachers should be the ones who encourage students and convince them that to go out for a year is a great choice for their future and overall during the high school years since they have less duties. They will also for sure have a wonderful experience!
Sincerenly,
