CAN WORDS CHANGE “THE PROBLEM”?
Dear Editor,
Let me introduce myself: my name is Francisca, a citizen of Alicante, living in one of the main streets where te noise is continuously at any time of day. We all know that, nowadays, the law protect citizens in that respect ,but in this case, it doesn`t seem that way.
I could mention many situations that I had to wake up in the middle of the night, caused by the tremendous noise that people passing by were doing. The lack of respect shown by those people is something that worries me, specially when I t think of those people trying to sleep because early morning they need to start his/her working day, or the eldery people who has to suffer the misbehaviour of people without common sense. Without mentioning the sick people that the night has become their worse nightmare. Situations that, for some reason, nobody does anything to stop or control that.
I suggest, that if there is a law to prohibite this attitudes, the police should treat it as urban negligence, the same way as they punish when your car is park in the wrong place or any other urban misbehaviours.
I hope this letter can be read by someone from the “central control” to help the neighbours of Alicante to have a livable city with a better quality of life.
In this case, my words will be used, not only to expose a problem, but also, to solve “the problem”.
