Same languages??

Dear editor,

I am a Spanish citizen but I come from Argentina. I address you because of I was astonished when I read one of the news in Vanguardia’s newspaper. This new narrated that in San Fulgencio, a municipality of Alicante, the mayor was replacing for his fourth deputy mayor because he and his other three deputies mayor were corrupt.

But the most amazing is that Mister Lewis, the fourth deputy mayor, didn´t speak Spanish!!!!

Then I ask myself: Why Spanish people ought to speak English in EE UU for work on important job, but foreigners in Spain don´t need to understand Spanish for be mayor???

In my opinion, rules would have to be equals for everyone. This is could be considerate as a discrimination by the Americans. What do you think about it?

Thank you,

Johanna Macri.
